On November 26 at 6:00 pm, The Sage School in Foxboro will host an interactive workshop and information session designed for elementary educators/counselors, youth sports and group leaders, and parents around biased-based bullying in our schools.
Created by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, Welcoming Schools is a national professional development program that provides training and resources to elementary school educators and parents to welcome diverse families, create LGBTQ and gender inclusive schools, prevent bias-based bullying, and support transgender and non-binary students.
Biased-based name calling, and bullying can occur in elementary schools and often includes words and actions based on skin color, religion, gender, appearance, perceived sexual orientation, ethnicity, and abilities. Effective intervention requires naming and understanding these biases.
Parents can learn best practices and gain advice on how to navigate and help prevent underlying biases with your children and students.
